Manufacturing Our Future: An Economic Summit promotes industry,
university, and government based research collaboration. Founded in
1997 as an initiative of Congressman James P. McGovern (D), 3rd Congressional
District, the Summit provides the opportunity for collaboration of university,
community, business, and government partnerships in various areas of
the manufacturing industry.
The 2004 Manufacturing Our Future Summit was held on October
14, 2004 as part of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. The focus was"Manufacturing Your Future Through
Vocational Education." The purpose was to connect the business community
to vocational schools in order to provide a bridge to the world of work
from the various disciplines in the vocational education community.
Milton P. Higgins Vocational Education Award Presented
The first annual Milton P. Higgins Vocational Educatin Awards were presented at the breakout sessions during the Summit.
Essays were submitted from the 6 participating vocational schools and judged by a committee of business and academic leaders. The first place essay winners and their winning essays are:
