7th Annual Manufacturing Our Future Summit:
Manufacturing Your Future through Vocational Education

Manufacturing our Future SummitThe Region’s best-kept education and job opportunity secret – vocational education – will not be a secret any more. We promise that you will be surprised and amazed!

Since 1997, upon the initiative of Congressman James McGovern, WPI, and the Manufacturing Advancement Center, Manufacturing Our Future Summits have been held. .

The 2004 Manufacturing Our Future Summit highlights vocational education throughout Central Massachusetts featuring the seven area schools: Assabet Regional Vocational School, Bay Path Vocational School, Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, Leominster Vocational High School, Montachusett Technical High School, Tantasqua Vocational High School, and Worcester Vocational High School. The purpose of this Summit is to connect the business community to vocational schools in order to provide a bridge to the world of work from the various disciplines in the vocational education community.

Program Features John Morgridge, Chairman, Cisco Systems

This summit will be the centerpiece event of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Expo on Thursday, October 14, 2023 at Worcester’s Centrum Centre. Our program consists of morning sessions and a luncheon program with John Morgridge, Chairman of the Board, Cisco Systems as our keynote speaker.

The morning program includes a plenary welcome session moderated by Stephen Willand, Ph.D., Director of the Central Massachusetts Regional Employment Board. Speakers include City Manager Michael O’Brien and Senator Harriette Chandler. Following the plenary session there will be 6 breakout sessions in Manufacturing, Information Technology, Biomedical, Health, Business, and Construction. These sessions are hosted by area business leaders in each of their respective fields. The focus will be on jobs, economic development, workforce training and recruiting for jobs, and the first annual Milton P. Higgins Scholarship Awards in technical assistance will be presented.

Our luncheon program will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Centrum Centre. In addition to Mr. Morgridge, other speakers include Jane C. Edmonds, Director, Mass. Dept. of Workforce Development and a video presentation by Congressman James McGovern.
