MassMEP Receives $150K from Small Business Direct Access Program
WORCESTER, MA — August, 2019 — Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP) has been awarded a $150,000 grant from the Small Business Direct Access Program through the Workforce Training Fund.
The Small Business Direct Access Program addresses smaller-scale training needs by making training slots in popular topics available, free of charge, to eligible businesses. Businesses with 100 or fewer Massachusetts employees that contribute to the Workforce Training Fund are eligible to access training through the Small Business Direct Access Program, helping them to remain competitive in today’s marketplace.
MassMEP has been chosen to deliver courses in the learning category of Process Improvement and Quality Improvement. Topics were chosen due to the overwhelming need that was expressed by Manufacturing businesses. The courses will start in November 2019 and run through August 2021.
"We are committed to working with small manufacturers to develop and implement specific project training curriculum, that develops an organization and helps optimize their manufacturing capabilities, in support of sustainable business growth in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts," said Kathie Mahoney, MassMEP Center Director. "MassMEP’s objective is to grow the top and bottom line performance of small manufacturing companies by increasing employee skills. These are developed through a systematic process in a series of hands-on targeted workforce training workshops offered through the Small Business Direct Access Program at no cost through the Commonwealths Workforce Training Fund."

- Value Stream Mapping
- Team Involvement Problem Solving
- Building a Successful Lean Team
- Pre-Lean ESOL
- Principles of Lean Manufacturing
- 5S Kaizen
- Principles of Lean Office
- Principles of Lean Management with Toyota Kata
- Quality Improvement
- ISO Internal Auditor Training.
