Celebrating More MACWIC Certification Level 1 & 2 Graduates

The Grafton Job Corps’ Advanced Manufacturing Trades Classes (Cohorts 1 & 2) will receive their MACWIC Certificates at a graduation ceremony with special guest Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito on Friday, August 30, 2019. These are the first classes to train in the state-of-the art “Fab Lab” at the Blackstone Valley Education Hub (EdHub). The EdHub is located at Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Central Mass Center for Business and Enterprise at 670 Linwood Ave in Whitinsville, MA. The graduation ceremony takes place from 8-10am.

Twelve students have been taking manufacturing and machining related classes at the EdHub during the summer months as part of their Job Corp educational experience. The Advanced Manufacturing Training focuses on CNC machine concepts and controls for mill and lathe, introduction to programming and GD&T, metrology, blueprint reading, shop math, quality and safety, and 3D printing. These are in-demand skills and competencies in today’s manufacturing environments.  

The Advanced Manufacturing training is being provided for Job Corp, Grafton through a partnership with the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce and MassMEP. At the event, Cohort 1 and 2 students will receive their MACWIC Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.

MACWIC Certificates are awarded to students who achieve an average of 85% or greater on the testing. This standardized testing is industry developed and recognized competency-based validation testing that has been adopted by technical high schools, junior colleges, colleges, adult education, and other training programs across the state. It was designed to help employers determine the capabilities of new employees.
