Metal Fabricator, ALTO, Sterling, MA
ALTO Technologies is looking for a Metal Fabricator who will be responsible for fabricating,
and welding product. This position reports to the Metal Fabrication Manager and is as
non-exempt position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Set-up and operation of press brake
- Operation of CNC punch press
- Welding (TIG Primarily)
- Deburring and parts finishing
- Hardware installation
- Raw material and hardware inventory maintenance
- In-process and Final Inspection
- Packaging
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- High School/Trade School Diploma or equivalent educational experience
- High Level of experience in blue print reading
- High level of experience using inspection equipment, examples: Micro Height, Calipers,
Micrometers, Gage Pins, Radius Gages
- High attention to detail
- 3+ years of product inspection experience
- General understanding of Electro-Mechanical Assembly, Machining & Fabrication
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)
- The ability to communicate
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with
deadline pressures
- Time managing skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work late when required to meet deadlines if and when they arise
Organizational Relationships
Reports directly to the Metal Fabrication Manager. Along with the Metal Fabrication Manager,
works in conjunction with Quality, Quality Engineering, Engineering, and any other department
that has an effect on the production/quality of the organizations product.

- Hours of work for this position are 7:00am – 3:30pm with two, 15 minute paid breaks;
one in the morning, one in the afternoon and a ½ hour unpaid lunch break
- Cell phones are ONLY permitted to be used as an on the job means of communication
"if necessary". The department manager will make this determination.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized department
- Excessive, non-work-related conversations are to be kept to a minimum to avoid
disruption in the workplace of others
- The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to
talk or hear
- The incumbent frequently is required to use hands, fingers, handle or feel objects,
tools and controls
- The incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms;
climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision,
color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate
