Rising Energy Costs Lead to Layoffs
I have read your article in the Worcester Telegram about energy costs in this state. I would like to say you have it so right. The cost is astronomical. I work for a company called Wyman Gordon in Grafton, MA. We, at one time, had 1500 or more employees with good paying jobs for a good hard day’s work. We are now down to 420. The company is taking another 120-150 jobs and sending them to North Carolina. Their biggest complaint? Energy costs. It has helped bleed our workforce dry and as employees there is nothing we can do. Think on that. One company from approximately 2000 employees at our max now going to be down to 275, maybe…if we are lucky. This state CANNOT continue to bleed good paying jobs.
