Wentworth Institute Offers Free Comprehensive Energy Audit
Wentworth Institute is offering to perform an intensive energy review for companies, free of charge. The study will review present energy consumption; identify possible implementations leading to energy efficiency, with costs involved; return on investment time frames; and other ways and means of savings on energy operational costs.
The company (project sponsor) agrees to provide a key contact for information gathering and to receive and review the student report outcome. The company does not have to pay Wentworth Institute of Technology or the students for this project report.
Energy Audit
The project will span 4 to 12 months, and may continue even beyond depending on the scope of the project as desired by the company.
- It will be an analytical study to initially review energy consumption and costs.
- This will be followed by review of plant, machinery, HVAC, motors, lighting, and other equipment being used.
- Subsequently opportunities for energy efficiency will be identified, alternatives along with cost of procurement and installation suggested, and return on investment and pay back time period calculated for effecting savings.
In essence, this will be a theoretical study conducted by students under the guidance of faculty. These students, mostly juniors or sophimores, will be primarily engineering students, but may include a few management or computer science students depending on student’s interests.
