Demand Planning Analyst, Savage Arms, Westfield, MA

The Demand Planning Analyst reports to the Direction of Production Control/Forecasting. Prepare and generate sales forecast for the product lines using the forecasting software.  Develop, validate, and maintain analysis models of demand for Operations, and create/maintain performance goals and measurements such as forecast accuracy and fill rates. Integrate forecast, inventory, and schedule information into the Customer Service environments, and serve as liaison between the various demand generators and Scheduling.  Identify opportunities for improvement of response to demand and cost reduction in Manufacturing. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
    Approximately 7 years in supply chain environment including purchasing
  • 12+ months sales forecasting experience
  • Solid knowledge of mfg systems – MRP, ERP, Inventory Control
  • Literacy in computer information systems and above-average knowledge and understanding of computer program operation including PC skills in Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Analytical, problem solving and reasoning skills
  • Strong organizational and work prioritization skills
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to achieve APICS certification (CPIM) within three years

Essential Functions

  • Implements formal location forecasting and analysis by validating and maintaining data and creating sales and operational forecasts for improved overall customer service.
  • Improves customer fill rates by identification, analysis, and solution of root causes to improve Manufacturing response to demand.
  • Provides additional resources by integrating the forecasting, scheduling, and inventory information into the Customer Service Representatives environment to improve real-time response to customers.
  • Develops goals for and measures performance of parameters such as forecast accuracy and fill rate by creating measurement criteria and formats to sharpen Operations focus towards customer service.
  • Monitors aging reports for improved delivery.
  • Maintains forecast in various systems.
  • Supports sales and operations planning process.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor well informed as needed or required.
  • Creates and monitors purchase orders for finished goods, usually inter-company, utilizing established pricing.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

Specific Requirements

  • Physical Requirements: Sitting a majority of the time, with considerable standing and walking when in the plant. Lifting and carrying books and product samples of up to 10 pounds.  Manual dexterity for operating a personal computer keyboard.
  • Mental Requirements: Excellent analytical and conceptualization skills. Problem solving, reasoning, and attention to detail for organizing resources. Written communication skills for strategic plans, memos, and reports. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to handle conflicting priorities. Flexibility and ability to change. Ability to work under pressure
  • Equipment Used: Personal Computer.
  • Working Environment: 15% of the time is spent in the manufacturing plant. This exposure subjects incumbent to temperature changes, dirt, dust, noise, vibration, moving objects and mechanical parts, machine tool lubricant mists, equipment and explosive hazards.  Approximately 85% of the time spent in the office and in meeting facilities.
