Purchasing Specialist, Hudson Lock, Hudson, MA

Since 1963, Hudson Lock has been designing and manufacturing highly engineered, custom, and specialty medium-security locks and locking systems to meet customers’ specifications. The company is looking for a Purchasing Specialist with overall responsibility for the procurement process, including supplier contract negotiation, cost controls, supplier qualification, and purchase planning and control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Issue and confirm purchase orders.
  • Negotiate with suppliers.
  • Support corporate policy.
  • Manage inventory practice.
  • Develop and qualify vendor base.
  • Create and publish reports as required.
  • Maintain cost savings programs.
  • Maintain MRO and plant requirements.
  • Manage PPV analysis and yearly cost containment program.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
