Training Specialist, Covidien, Chicopee, MA

Position Summary
This position will be responsible for the facility’s training system including on-the-job training, plant wide training, technical and compliance-based training initiative design and implementation. The primary areas of responsibility will be tactical implementation of technical and compliance-based training initiatives, specifically in the establishment/delivery of consistent, accurate, and on-going training for all employees.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Identifies training and development needs within the organization through job analysis, appraisal schemes, and regular consultation with business managers and Human Resources team members, to include but not limited to the development of Chicopee’s professional technical workforce by coordinating training in the areas of project management, root cause analysis, and technical writing
  2. Develops and helps maintain, through continuous improvement, a training program for all levels of Chicopee employees. Revisits and adjusts this program as business needs change
  3. Observes existing conditions related to training and analyzes needed changes to achieve increased skills levels across all levels of Chicopee employees while maintaining compliance with regulatory and company guidelines;
  4. Administers Training Database
  5. Develops specific plans and programs in order to satisfy training and development needs detected

Requirements

Education:

  • BS/BA in Business, Human Resources, and/or Organizational Development, or related field.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years practical experience in a manufacturing environment applying concepts for an Adult Workforce preferred.
  • Experience in managing training projects including timelines, resources and deliverables.
  • Experience with the design of training using various training media including CBT (computer-based training)
  • Experience with various tracking metrics, identification, use, interpretation, trends and presentation
  • Experience with developing curricula based on the needs of the business.
  • The ability to effectively communicate information to associates at all levels of the business.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • High degree of organization and flexibility with the ability to prioritize responsibilities as needs require.
  • An understanding of the manufacturing industry and its unique business and social responsibilities.
  • Excellent technical and compliance-based writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent meeting facilitation and strong presentation skills.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Must be a change agent
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of quality system regulations, GMPs and ISO requirements
  • Ability to identify areas of opportunity
  • Ability to develop and coach others
  • Ability prioritize and a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Experience with Six Sigma/Lean tools
  • Ability to drive others to deliver results

Other Skills:

  • HRIS experience.  Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Organizational skills a must. Must have the ability to work independently and handle many tasks at one with constant interruption.
