Job Opening: MassGREEN Curriculum Coordinator, Springfield, MA

Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) will serve as a hub for a statewide network of programs to develop, train, and maintain a cutting edge "green workforce" that will accelerate the growth of the Commonwealth’s energy efficiency sector while expanding job opportunities for citizens. The Curriculum Coordinator, under the supervision and leadership of STCC’s Vice President for Economic and Business Development and the Director of the MassGREEN Institute, will have overall responsibilities of inventorying, designing, and developing, as well as implementing both credit and credit-free curricula in accordance with the scope of work and program deliverables under the three year $1.87 million contract, to coordinate energy efficient workforce programs under the Massachusetts Clear Energy Centers’ Energy Efficiency and Building Science Skills Initiative. The Curriculum Coordinator will ensure that STCC will serve as the statewide clearing house for energy efficiency training and educational activities, materials and instructors. The Curriculum Coordinator will facilitate the sharing and integration of energy efficiency curricula at regional centers including STCC, as well as six other Massachusetts Community Colleges including Berkshire, Bristol, Greenfield, North Shore, Quinsigamond and Roxbury.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of clean energy curricula and standards;
  • Determine core competencies, learner outcomes, and skill indicators for current and anticipated skilled energy workforce;
  • Conduct quality assurance program that oversees instructor capacity, course delivery and content.  Coordinate data collection and evaluation activities;
  • Develop and identify a relevant and effective standardized curricula and materials to support learners and mastering requisite outcomes for each green sector job category;
  • Coordinate training delivery flexibility and varied learning methodologies, embedding energy efficiency skills into coursework, and forming connected educational career paths;
  • Coordinating numerous statewide MassGREEN Regional Training Centers in identifying, training and certifying qualified instructors to teach curricula;
  • Support the design, building and/or acquiring of experiential based learning labs for hands-on student training;
  • Support and populate an interactive web site where statewide educational partners can share knowledge, materials and lessons learned, course and program offerings and scheduling, as well as standardized curricula;
  • Support green energy web site in online course delivery, webinars, recorded presentations and up-to-date instructor directory, as well as a curriculum resource library;
  • Provide leadership in the creation of Regional Training Center Curriculum Task Force;
  • Support the facilitation of further development for the Regional Training Center Network which includes all 15 Massachusetts Community Colleges;
  • Develop strategies to stimulate and accelerate green sector venture creation through entrepreneurial activities and business incubation;
  • Develop and promote green energy career awareness at Springfield Technical Community College.

Education and Experience
The Curriculum Coordinator of the MassGREEN Institute will have a successful 3-5 year track record in the green energy sector with emphasis on post-secondary workforce development and related business and industry training.  Proven and successful demonstration of partnership development, curriculum development and implementation, broad working knowledge of project management, exceptional communication skills, both oral and written. A minimum of a four-year degree from a recognized college or university is required. Masters Degree in education, or environmental sustainability science preferred. Candidate must possess innovation and entrepreneurial problem solving and analytical characteristics.
