Career Opportunities

Job Opening: Vice President of Operations, Southeastern MA and NYC

Our client company acts as a technical resource and partner to manufacturers in the area of recycling and environmental management.  This exciting green business has excellent potential for growth and innovation.

Having recently invested in state of the art automated processing equipment, our client has created the Vice President of Operations role to grow and bring operational excellence to our two facilities in the Northeast. Currently, both are relatively small operations poised for growth.

Our VP candidate understands the vision, leadership, data-based decision making, technical competence, and personal commitment for accountability that are required for success in an entrepreneurial environment.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the VP has P&L responsibility for both facilities.  This person is expected to drive rigorous operational improvements, manage multiple complex projects, strengthen financial performance, and develop the team in order to achieve significant growth.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement SOPs and performance expectations for the entire process from inbound material to the sale of recovered product.
  • Develop metrics and improve performance in all aspects of the business including process flow, production and inventory tracking, master scheduling, capacity planning, maintenance, quality, yield, efficiencies, staffing, budgets, information systems, sales order processing, transportation, EH&S, and regulatory and tax compliance.
  • Raise the performance of team members and build upon the existing culture through clarity of goals, modeling appropriate risk taking and personal responsibility for results, coaching and reinforcing positive results, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Participate in strategic business decisions as part of the management team. Create the vision for operational excellence at assigned facilities. Negotiate with suppliers. Interact with customers. Initiate opportunities for new products and processes.
The ideal candidate is an intelligent, resourceful, proactive leader equally comfortable articulating a vision as he/she is drilling down to the details of every aspect of the business.  This person has been a successful change agent in a technical/industrial setting and has a bias towards personal accountability.

Requirements for the ideal candidate include:

  • 10+ years of progressively more responsible experience, including P&L responsibility, in a high volume industrial environment.
  • Strong technical background with demonstrated success in project management and technical problem solving in a mechanical and material handling environment. BSME, material science or related technical degree.
  • Strong leadership skills and a resourceful interpersonal style.  Results driven and pragmatic with capability to elevate the leadership and problem solving skills of the team to ensure exceptional business results
  • Possess a data-driven decision making style but be decisive and willing to take action in the presence of imperfect data. Effectively initiate and manage multiple complex improvement projects with integrity and personal accountability.
  • Successful P&L responsibility including budget development and financial management.  Business focused with the ability to help expand markets.
  • Exceptional computer skills with strength in MS Excel, statistical and analytical tools.
  • Commitment to developing environmentally and financially sound solutions to waste recovery services.
  • Willingness and ability to share time between facilities in Southeastern MA and the NYC area.

Competitive salary and benefit package offered. Bonus potential based upon achievement of goals and objectives.  Local/regional candidates preferred.
