Job Opening: Director of Operations, Jamaica Plain, MA

Roxbury Technology Corporation ("RTC") is a printing supplies distribution and toner remanufacturing company that has been in operation for 14 years founded by the late Archie Williams in 1994. Under the leadership of Beth Williams, who succeeded her father in 2003, RTC has experienced substantial growth and is looking to expand its management team to support future growth and business diversification.

RTC is seeking a highly-seasoned, accomplished operational candidate with experience in manufacturing to plan, implement, and manage product manufacturing and inventory control systems, both short and long-range, targeted toward existing and new product lines. The Director of Operations will report directly to the CEO and work with the management team to drive the operations function as well as the development of performance metrics, and implementation of strategic plans to achieve corporate objectives for RTC products.

In addition, the Director of Operations will evaluate and develop strategic growth initiatives, provide senior management recommendations, and assist in implementation planning.  The position requires the ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness, generate solutions for improving work, manage a team, and develop innovative approaches and ideas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily oversight of RTC remanufacturing operations and leadership for production team
  • Oversee plant operations function, including planning, directional supervision, and management of warehouse, shipping and receiving, maintenance, and manufacturing floor management
  • Develop new procedures or enhance existing ones as they relate to Customer Returns, Inventory Control, Space Utilization, and other areas as defined
  • Manage the process to bring SKUs in-house for manufacturing, including SKU selection
  • Set productivity targets and ensure production team leaders are managing to these targets
  • Develop plant operating policies, procedures, and manuals
  • Manage key supplier relationships with Clover, ILG, EOS, GreenTech, Static controls, and others
  • Evaluate, audit, and approve materials from suppliers
  • Manage other key vendor relationships, such as TechBoston and Pine Street
  • Recommend the purchase of capital equipment and plant expansion options
  • Ensure manufacturing compliance with company policies, federal regulations, state regulations
  • Manage the product replenishment system for stock-keeping units (SKUs)
  • Coordinate with production team to maximize product reliability, minimize cost of goods sold
  • Establish and maintain quality control objectives
  • Develop product specification standards and analyze data to determine quality and reliability of products
  • Develop and monitor manufacturing operation performance metrics
  • Lead the Recycling Solutions initiative and define operational processes, procedures, and workflow
  • Manage the ARS and Returns process; define and oversee processes and procedures
  • Manage and oversee the product packaging and recommend packaging options / solutions
  • Provide CEO updates on key issues and improve communications across functions
  • Provide the highest-quality customer service and effective communications to key clients
  • Develop Focus Groups and Quality Circles to manage accumulation of information and seamless implementation and execution of all process and procedural changes
  • Review, develop, and meet goals and requirements of fiscal budget related to changes and enhancements
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • 7+ years operational, manufacturing, and/or inventory management or related experience (within a manufacturing environment, strongly preferred)
  • Proven record of successfully implementing inventory control systems and  manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload imbalance
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in groups
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and manage risk
  • "Roll-up the sleeves" attitude and experience

  • Demonstrated project planning skills
  • Demonstrated history of process improvement
  • Strategic thinker
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with customers and colleagues

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required
  • Masters degree, preferred
