Trade Achievement Award Nominations for Massachusetts Success Stories

The Massachusetts Alliance for International Business (MAIB), affiliated with Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM), is seeking nominations for the 14th annual MAIB International Trade Achievement Awards, which recognize Massachusetts firms, institutions, public agencies, or individuals who have demonstrated creativity and leadership in their international trade-related activities. The awards will be presented at AIM’s Annual Meeting & Luncheon on May 8, 2009, at the Waltham Westin Hotel.  The Nomination Form can be obtained online by clicking the link.

“Particularly in the current financial climate, it’s important to recognize that many Massachusetts-based firms are innovating in the international marketplace and contributing through international trade to the Massachusetts economy,” said Kristen Rupert, MAIB’s Executive Director.

The MAIB International Trade Achievement Awards have recognized more than 50 Massachusetts companies, institutions, and individuals since 1996. 2008 winners included: Aspect Medical Systems, Norwood; Fabrico Inc., Oxford; and Hardigg Industries, South Deerfield.  In addition, nonprofit organizations, such as the University of Massachusetts-Boston and the Massachusetts Export Center, have been recognized.

Criteria for the MAIB International Trade Achievement Awards include:

  • Increasing or retaining jobs in Massachusetts by expanding or entering new international markets
  • Demonstrating new or creative solutions to the challenges of exporting
  • Producing or adapting a product line or service for a foreign market
  • Establishing alliances or partnerships to increase international business
  • Investing in infrastructure or manufacturing in Massachusetts and enhancing foreign trade

In 2009, three awards will be presented. Nominations for the International Trade Achievement Awards are open through March 13, 2009, and can be obtained along with the list of past award recipients at www.aimnet.org/maib.
