Job Opening: Quality Director, Gloucester, MA

Gloucester Engineering is looking for a Quality Director to develop and implement a comprehensive quality management strategy and plans, including resource, systems, timescales, and financials, to support, contribute to, and integrate within the organization’s annual business plan and long term strategy.  Position reports to President.

Specific Functions:

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain quality systems and sound procedures from proposal to cash as required to certify the company as an ISO 9000 compliant company.
  • Interact directly with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Engineering; drive the development and establishment of standards relating to activities and products.
  • Establish protocols with the Service, Process and Operations groups for root cause identification, corrective action development, tracking, and successful resolution of quality related complaints and issues from both internal and external sources. 
  • Relentlessly monitor and measure performance (in relevant areas) according to developed and agreed standards; take necessary action to communicate/advise/assist according to performance levels; ensure compliance against established standards.
  • Establish and implement necessary communication strategy for the improvement and awareness of quality issues across all departments, including but not limited to MRB’s, Supplier Audits, incoming and outgoing inspection etc.
  • Plan and manage departmental activities in accordance with agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Report as necessary on changes in standards (internally and externally initiated) and on performance against standards; ensure continuous compliance to policy and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain documentation database
  • Participate as an active member of the company’s safety committee

Job Requirements:

  • Documented success in developing, deploying, and maintaining a quality program to ISO criteria
  • Self-motivated, capable of achieving goals and objectives with minimal supervision
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a technical discipline; Advanced degree a PLUS
  • 7 plus years in the Quality Field with 5 years in a Management role
  • ASQ certification required
  • LEAN Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience required
  • A knowledge of large capital equipment or a strong electrical and mechanical background a PLUS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Travel expected to be less than 20%
