Nokia Inc. has signed a five-year lease for 19,437 SF in at the Park Square Building in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. The Nokia lease increases the mobile advertising firm’s presence in the building to 29,018 SF.
Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics has opened its expanded manufacturing facility in Walpole. The $100 million, 115,000 SF addition more than doubles the company’s production capacity and expects to add 70 jobs. Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics develops medical testing products for the diagnosis, monitoring and management of disease.
Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site that increases high-speed wireless data coverage for local residents in Middlesex County. In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service, the new site increases capacity along Beacon Street in the Waban section of Newton, Massachusetts, as well as the surrounding area. Regionally, the company has invested over $2.2 billion into its New England network, including over $100 million during the first six months of 2008.
New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc. opened a new 3,000 SF research and development facility in Lawrence. The Brighton-based sneaker maker’s Sports Research lab includes a 120-foot running track and a "smash lab" that is filled with biomechanics technology. This technology will be used to measure runner and sneaker performance.
Genzyme Corp announced the opening of its new LEED-certified science center in Framingham. The $125 million, 180,000 SF facility can house 350 employees in a building intended for the early-stage research of cancer and heart diseases. The building is one of 10 laboratories in the U.S. to achieve gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Green Building Rating.
