The Advanced Technology & Manufacturing Center (ATMC) is excited to announce it will resume its Entrepreneurship Speaker Series. The Entrepreneurship Speaker Series is intended to provide current and future entrepreneurs with information that will help them succeed. Scheduled for the 2nd Wednesday of each month, from 12 noon to 1:30 pm, ATMC explores subjects of vital concern to startup companies.

The ABCs of Intellectual Property
We are often asked, ‘What is Intellectual Property?’ Although it can be licensed and sold, the same as real property, Intellectual Property is not as tangible as real property. Orlando Lopez, Ph.D., Esq. and Janine Susan, Ph.D., Esq. of Burns & Levinson LLP Boston will give an overview of the main types of intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and patents. They will dedicate their time to patents: what do they protect, what can you obtain a patent for, types of patents, important dates to consider from the invention time to the patenting time, and what pitfalls to watch for in the patenting process.
Orlando Lopez, Ph.D., Esq., who has had extensive experience in the managing of research, licensing, and the patent process, and Janine Susan, Ph.D., Esq., who has had experience as a bench biochemist and extensive experience with the patent process, will be your guides through this fast tour of Intellectual Property Land.
These free programs are held at the ATMC in Fall River, MA and run from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Attendees have the option of purchasing a boxed lunch with a beverage for $10 or bringing their own lunch.
