Job Opening: CADSCAN Design Mechanical Engineer, Eastern CT

Our Eastern CT client has a unique story. Fully funded, this startup has an acoustic medical device in trials already. Unfortunately, the mechanical engineer left the company for personal reasons. The company is seeking a replacement, someone who can start immediately and help the team in bringing this lifesaving product into commercial production, then continue with product development.

Located within easy commute from the Springfield, Worcester, Sturbridge, Palmer, Providence, Hartford, and Norwich areas, the company offers onsite parking and easy on and off the highway access. Position: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description: Support the ongoing design and modification of a compact acoustic PVDF sensor. Design ongoing modifications to and packaging for a medical diagnostic device that includes the compact acoustic PVDF sensor and a base station. Tasks include initial design, 3-D modeling, design for producibility, finite element stress analysis, mold design, material selections, assembly process definition, machining of prototypes and acoustic test simulators, and final design for the base station and the acoustic sensor. Tasks also include requirements development, configuration control, and validation that the system meets all requirements including Food & Drug Administration (FDA) certification processes.

Minimum Experience: Five years experience with SolidWorks mechanical design software. Experience using machine shop tools. Experience performing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Minimum five years experience in a production environment, especially in piezoelectric crystal or polymer (PVDF) acoustic sensor manufacturing.

Minimum Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3.5 GPA
