Job Opening: CNC Programmer/Machinist, Worcester, MA

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Creates programming on CNC Mills/Lathes, using Mastercam CNC programming software. (Possess working knowledge of programming functions and methods, Mastercam experience preferred). Working knowledge of G & M codes.
  • Review CNC part programs & setups for improvements.
  • Assist in training of machine operators as required.
  • Can perform and verify own machine setups prior to manufacturing.
  • Performs CNC programming and machining. Sets-up and operates a variety of machines. Works from complex drawings, diagrams and blue prints. Works under general supervision.
  • Thorough ability to interpret blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Reviews/generates setup sheet, router and part print to determine fixturing methods/holding requirements, set-up procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work pieces.
  • Designs fixtures or work piece holding methods to machine table or chuck as required.
  • Manipulates controls and enters commands to set tool length and origin offsets.
  • Measures work piece for conformance to specification, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators and gauges.
  • Communicates with supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Documents specific information that will facilitate smooth flow, and process improvement of reoccurring jobs.
  • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, decrease turnaround times, decrease set-up times, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality improvement.
  • Must have knowledge of all associated tooling and basic fixture design.
  • Understanding of general machine shop procedures & safety awareness. Good team work/communication skills required.
  • The ideal candidate will posses a desire for self-improvement through education and learning, and will stay abreast of current and evolving manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Develops "run-time" and "set-up" estimates for quoting purposes utilizing quoting software and experience.
