Application Engineer
In this position, you will deliver advanced manufacturing engineering expertise to a rapidly expanding direct-to-customer manufacturing process. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of new product launch initiatives.
The Application Engineer will interact closely with the Process Engineers in each of the facilities by identifying equipment, defining process workflows, and calculating capacity & labor requirements. The successful candidate will also proactively communicate with internal software teams, marketing and finance departments, and be an integral member of the manufacturing engineering peer review team. This position reports to the Director of New Products Engineering and is located in Lexington, MA.
Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional product development teams in order to define, specify, test, and implement new product launches (i.e. analyze product specifications for manufacturing fit, develop functional proof of concept tests)
Identify and develop engineering analysis for new technology implementations (i.e., automation of multi item order consolidation, creating inline manufacturing process from standalone work cells)
Key contributor to continuous improvement initiatives
Manage physical layout planning by process and facility flow
Document the conceptual & final engineering design process through implementation and post roll-out monitoring to ensure that all issues are driven to closure through root cause analysis
Provide Junior Manufacturing Engineer mentorship by promoting engineering knowledge transfer
Support new product process in both manufacturing facilities: Windsor, ON, Canada and Venlo, The Netherlands
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering; advanced degree preferred
8+ years’ high volume manufacturing or warehouse & distribution experience
Demonstrated self-starter capable of excelling in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
Successful new process roll-outs in a manufacturing facility, providing reduced cost of goods sold, capacity improvement, and/or innovative methodology
Demonstrated fundamental engineering knowledge
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing philosophy
Ability to communicate ideas/solutions using well organized, comprehensive, written reports, group presentations, and one-on-one interactions
Expert level skills in AutoCAD, MS Office
Ability to travel 30%
