Two Maine MEP Managers Take on Additional Leadership Roles in Community

Rosemary Presnar Accepted into Leadership Maine and Larry Robinson Nominated to Advisory Board at USM

Two integral leaders at the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership (Maine MEP) organization are extending their leadership into other parts of the community.  Operations manager Rosemary Presnar has been accepted into the 2007-2008 Leadership Maine program, sponsored by the Maine Development Foundation. Project manager Larry Robinson has been nominated to the advisory board of University of Southern Maine’s Department of Technology in the School of Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology (USM-ASET).

"It’s our job to help Maine manufacturers streamline their operations, and managers like Rosemary and Larry do an exemplary job of that," said Rod Rodrigue, Executive Director of the Maine MEP. "These two people are excellent leaders and will surely excel in these additional capacities while extending their commitment to the Maine community."

Presnar was selected to participate in Leadership Maine based on her personal concern about the future economic health and quality of life of Maine and a pledge to take actions that shape that future. She has also demonstrated a capacity to lead at the statewide level. Leadership Maine is committed to building a broader pool of statewide leaders with the skills, knowledge, and networks to shape the future of Maine. The year-long program educates its participants from what drives Maine’s economy to working collaboratively on a statewide issue, then ends with each participant creating an action plan on how they will make a difference.

Robinson is an alumni of USM, graduating in 1992 with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Technology and receiving a Masters of Business Administration in 2002 with an Operations Management focus. While on the USM-ASET board, Robinson will evaluate programs and become an informed partner in identifying trends in industry, potential students, internships, and placements for graduates in the industry.

The Maine MEP is an affiliate of the NIST under the US Department of Commerce. The national MEP is a network of manufacturing extension centers that provide business and technical assistance to smaller manufacturers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Through MEP, manufacturers have access to more than 2000 manufacturing and business "coaches" whose job is to help firms make changes that lead to greater productivity, increased profits, and enhanced global competitiveness.
