Job Opening: Manufacturing Lead Person, West Boylston, MA

Checkerboard is a family owned and operated designer and printer of invitations. The Manufacturing Lead Person reports to the Director of Manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Track the flow of all jobs through the manufacturing process and expedite any job that is at risk of being stuck and / or shipped late.
  • Provide direction and assist all cell leaders in successfully flowing product through the cells to meet on time delivery requirements.
  • Assist the manufacturing manager in the implementation of all lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Assist in the implementation of, and monitor the audit program pertaining to 5S / lean manufacturing in all manufacturing areas as required.
  • Write and maintain detailed operating procedures for all manufacturing equipment, to include a trouble shooting guide and process specifications.
  • Assist in the implementation of, and monitor the documented training program pertaining to all manufacturing operations as required.
  • Assist in the implementation of, and monitor the system for tracking all safety related items pertaining to facilities (labeling, storage, eye wash stations etc.)
  • Assist in the implementation of, and monitor / audit procedures pertaining to job safety analysis for all manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist in the implementation of, and monitor the system for tracking and reporting all non quality products (reprints).
  • Assist in the implementation of, and monitor and audit the system for determining root cause and corrective action for all non quality products.
  • Assist the manufacturing manager in implementing Mass 500 manufacturing system.
  • Perform all other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent education
  • Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, etc.

Key Competencies Required

  • Understands and applies accepted manufacturing practices and procedures. 
  • Possesses an understanding of basic lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Possesses an understanding and appreciation of basic safety concepts and procedures.
  • Possesses an understanding and appreciation of high quality customer service.
