Job Opening: Continuous Improvement Facilitator, Belchertown, MA

Position
CI Facilitator at Universal Forest Products, reporting to GMO. Responsible for the implementation and coordination of the site’s CI initiative.

Essential Duties

  • Coordinate the activities of the site CI initiative while working with the CI Team on some or all of the stated duties
  • Evaluate operations to identify areas of waste and opportunities for improvement
  • Facilitate VSM and Kaizen activities
  • Develop, prioritize, and implement solutions to reduce waste and improve performance
  • Document and standardize improvements
  • Teach, coach, mentor all levels of employees in CI and Lean manufacturing principles
  • Train employees to identify and eliminate waste
  • Develop programs to foster employee involvement to promote a culture of continuous improvement
  • Attend seminars, lectures, and training classes on Lean manufacturing and share gained knowledge with plant staff
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Certification in Lean manufacturing (desired)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Lean principles including:
    • 5S
    • Kanban
    • Standardized work
    • Process flow
    • Value stream mapping
    • Setup reduction
    • Kaizen
    • Visual Factory
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking
  • Bilingual recommended (Spanish)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply business math in business situations, to plan, organize, and prioritize work and to effectively interact with others
  • Demonstrated ability to be mobile in the work environment, travel as required, use a computer terminal and basic office machines and lift 50 pounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work hours and shifts mandated by management and to pass a drug test
