Job Opening: Benefits & Payroll Analyst, Massachusetts

Scope
The Benefits and Payroll Analyst is responsible for the administration of a multi-state payroll, including weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly pay frequencies. Administration of union and non-union benefit plans, including health and welfare, defined benefit, and defined contribution plans.  Responsible to ensure corporate compliance at both federal and state level for benefit and payroll administration.

Location: Corporate, East Walpole
Reports to: Compensation & Benefits Manager

Responsibilities

35% Retirement Plan Administration

  • Responsible for administration and communication of Defined Benefit (pension) and Defined Contribution (401k) plans. Includes enrollment, DC fund transfers, DB pension plan payments, and assisting in plan audits, non-discrimination testing, and 5500 preparation.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely calculation and processing of union and non-union pension payments for normal, early, and disability retirements, as well as processing of deferred vested pensions.
  • Interface with trustees to ensure timely and accurate processing of contributions and disbursements.
  • Perform monthly trust reconciliation and resolve data inaccuracies.

35% Health & Welfare Plan Administration

  • Administer, analyze, and evaluate union and non-union benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, leave of absence, life/AD&D, long and short-term disability, Flexible Spending Accounts, auto/home owners, legal plan, EAP, and tuition reimbursement.
  • Participate in the benefit plan renewal, redesign, and implementation process.
  • Conduct on-going analysis of benefit plan expenses, pay premiums, and monitor benefits budget.
  • Perform audits of vendors, Oracle and ADP systems to ensure data integrity.
  • Administer and coordinate open enrollment with remote locations.

30% Payroll Administration

  • Process, audit, and transmit multi-state weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls in an accurate and timely manner ensuring integrity of data.
  • Update and maintain employee records in ADP including new hires, rehires, transfers, terminations, and changes to status, job, salary, taxes, and direct deposit.
  • Interface with external international tax advisor to administer expatriate compensation and taxation, including hypothetical tax calculations, housing, and goods and services allowance.
  • Ensure accurate calculation and entry of hours worked, adjustments, wage garnishments, and bonus payments.
  • Partner with accounting to identify and resolve data discrepancies and ensure general ledger file accuracy.
  • Maintain ADP and Reportsmith system and provides training and leadership to remote locations.
  • Constantly look to improve internal controls and automate system capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in benefits, payroll, and HR
  • High proficiency with ADP, Reportsmith, and Excel
  • Advanced knowledge of benefit plans and regulations (i.e. ERISA, DOL, etc.)
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
