Production Manager, New England Natural Bakers, Greenfield, MA.

New England Natural Bakers, Inc. (NENB), an ESOP company, is the largest producer of granola on the east coast.  Located in Franklin County, we manufacture organic and all natural granolas and trail mixes in bulk and packaged products for our own label and for dozens of Private Label companies. NENB is a fast paced growing company with professional growth opportunities. 

We have an immediate opening for a Production Manager.


  • Minimum – AS in Business (or equivalent)

  • 7 + years as a Production Manager

  • 5 + years Lean Manufacturing experience

  • 5+ years production scheduling experience

  • 5 + years managing budgets

  • 5 + years managing at least 25 employees and 3 shifts

  • 5 + years working with teams

  • High level of communication skills, oral and written


  • BA in Business

  • Food manufacturing experience

  • SQF Certification experience


  • Responsible for managing production activities and achieving production schedules in quality, productivity, efficiency, capacity, and cost control. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and/or company policy, as well as, all SQF and FDA rules and procedures. Responsible for leading continuous awareness of workplace safety.

  • Manage and lead teams in all production processes required to produce and deliver bulk and packaged products to customers according to ship dates, made to order, made to stock products.  

  • Provide direction through coaching and mentoring to ensure success in meeting required outputs and schedules.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring and/or additional training/education to ensure success in individual employees' and supervisor's professional development.

  • Communicate effectively throughout the organization on production targets and priorities to support manufacturing teams.

  • Develop annual operating plan and budget; work with Director of Operation on capital requirements. Act as project manager of production capital projects.

  • Work with and support production employees on generating, developing, and implementing appropriate cost saving ideas for continual process improvement.

  • Maintain production records; provide weekly/monthly reports, as required.

  • Monitor and maintain all applicable production permits and ensure that the facility complies with all local, state, federal, and company policies.

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all bi-weekly Operations/Safety meetings.

  • Manage employee selection, training, performance evaluation, documentation, wage and salary processes, and disciplinary processes. Maintain a positive, proactive team environment.
