Central Massachusetts SCORE Continues to Grow

SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives), the consulting arm of the Small Business Administration, offers free and confidential advice to existing small businesses who are seeking to maximize their effectiveness.  With more than 25 active counselors operating from offices in Worcester, Westborough, Fitchburg, Devens, and Sturbridge, there is broad expertise available to help address nearly every business situation from start-up to financing to job costing, inventory control, marketing, compensation planning, budgeting, global strategy, quality, and more.

Volunteer counselors often work on-site and can provide ongoing support by e-mail for maximum client convenience.  Annually they provide thousands of hours of business consulting at no charge to their clients.

Manufacturing Scores
Local SCORE counselors are currently working on a number of manufacturing projects.  For example, one Worcester company needed to overhaul its compensation program to better engage employees throughout the company and align their efforts with the company’s goals.

Another Blackstone Valley company is re-branding its product line and radically changing the way it goes to market.

Also, a team approach with five dedicated counselors is being used to assist a Fitchburg company to examine its manufacturing process including job costing, product profitability, cash flow, inventory control, and strategic growth.

For more information and/or to schedule an appointment for one-on-one counseling, please visit the web site at scoreworcester.org.  There you can also access high quality on-line seminars for free and receive information about becoming a volunteer SCORE counselor.
