Knowledge Exchange Summit at Raytheon a Resounding Success

The Associated Industries of Massachusetts (A.I.M.) recently co-hosted a knowledge exchange summit with Raytheon Company and Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP). The summit, held at Raytheon's new corporate headquarters in Waltham, attracted over 100 site, owner-operator, and operations managers from middle market, service, and manufacturing firms who learned how to improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction.Rick Lord, CEO of Associated Industries of Massachusetts (A.I.M.)

The Exchange Summit participants included Rick Lord, CEO of Associated Industries of Massachusetts (A.I.M.), Jack Healy, Director of Operations for the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP), Don Ronchi, Vice President of Raytheon Six Sigma Supply Chain and Chief Learning Officer, as well as Jon McKenzie, Director of Raytheon Six Sigma, who gave a presentation on how Raytheon Six Sigma is driving productivity and growth for the Massachusetts based defense giant.

During his welcome Lord stated, "The Associated Industries of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership are increasingly focused on providing our members with the resources necessary to improve efficiencies and reduce costs all with a goal to satisfy their customers and remain competitive in the marketplace."Don Ronchi, Vice President of Raytheon Six Sigma Supply Chain and Chief Learning Officer

Jack Healy of MassMEP said, "What Raytheon has done in demonstrating the attainments of their Six Sigma and Lean processes goes a long way to show small manufacturers what can be achieved using flexible production capabilities."

In addition to the speakers, several panelists shared their success stories with event participants:

  • Colonel Rodney H.C. Schmidt, US Commander, DCMA Raytheon Defense Contract Management Agency East, discussed the impact of Six Sigma in the defense sector.

  • Kerstin Forrester, President, Stonebridge Corporation, located in Worcester, Don Roussinos, President, Henschel L-3 Communications Inc., located in Newburyport, and Larry Walsh, President, Chace Leather Products, located in Fall River, showcased the positive results they have experienced as a result of implementing process and customer improvement programs.
